Furrh Family
The 1850 Lowndes County, Alabama, census lists three Furrs (George age 56, David age 45, and John age 30) all of whom were born in South Carolina and later moved to Texas where the spelling of their name was changed to Furrh. These Furr(h)s are believed to have been born in Edgefield County (District), South Carolina. Numerous researchers have and are continuing to try to determine the lineage of these Furr(h)s. One theory is that they are related to the Virginia Furrs. Another is that they are related to the North Carolina Furrs. To my knowledge, no one has found any definitive information that would prove which of these theories is correct or if these individuals are related to a totally different line.
